African Creates Co. was founded by Amine Mounir in Rabat, Morocco, in March 2017 with a passion for authentic Moroccan craftsmanship and a goal to bring exceptional handmade Moroccan rugs to homes around the world.
After spending time in the United States, Amine developed the idea of creating a business that could connect Morocco's centuries-old weaving traditions with customers looking for authentic, one-of-a-kind pieces. His passion for Moroccan craftsmanship eventually led to the creation of African Creates.

Working Closely With Moroccan Artisans
The story of African Creates began with a journey through Morocco's High Atlas Mountains, where Amine met families and artisans who had been weaving beautiful rugs for generations.
He travelled extensively through Morocco, spending time in weaving villages and learning about every stage of the process—from selecting wool and developing designs to weaving, finishing and preparing each rug.
Today, African Creates continues to work closely with Moroccan artisans and weaving communities while regularly travelling across Morocco to source distinctive rugs and develop new designs.

Amine’s life experiences abroad in the U.S. awoke within him with a fervent entrepreneurial spirit, which combined with his sincere passion for Moroccan ancestral handicraft savoir-faire, led him to create the company, in the tradition of a trade relationship that has existed between the U.S. and Morocco for centuries.
An AfricanCreates rug is a unique piece of handwoven art and reflection of its weaver’s artistry and savoir-faire. Made from the purest and locally sourced materials, such as Atlas mountain sheep wool, and crafted according to ancient, traditional weaving techniques, each is infused with a sense of history and designed in a language of unique simplicity. It all began with a backpacking trip to the high atlas Mountains in Morocco . Some time ago, Amine faced by the bad situation of living of so many small families in remote areas, making a living by weaving beautiful and unique rugs. This got him thinking: what if he, a Moroccan native, could give the world access to these one-of-a-kind works of art?
He then travelled extensively to the Atlas Mountains in Northwest Africa, staying multiple months in the villages where the rugs are woven by hand, to learn as much as he could, from dreaming up the design, to weaving the final thread. Amine continues to travel hundreds of kilometers across Morocco to curate the best rugs for you and your home.
